To bring added value to the site, this article, which is about installing and activating plugin in WordPress, is useful.
Adding a new plug can be done in at least 2 ways:
- Installation from WordPress.org Plugins Directory
- Manual installation
1) Install from the WordPress.org Plugins Directory
In the https://wordpress.org/plugins/ find free modules added by various developers. You can also find the same modules from the site’s administration panel, going to the “Modules -> Add module” section.
You will notice numerous modules, and the installation is done by pressing the “Install now” button next to each one.
After installing a module, the option to activate it will be displayed immediately.
It is not necessary to activate it immediately, it can be done later.
The management of the installed modules can be done from the WordPress administration area, in the “Modules” menu.
You can read more details about the modules and what is recommended to use read here.
2) Manual installation
To manually install a module, you must first obtain its archive.
Uploading the archive can be done directly from the site’s administration panel, but also via FTP.
Uploading the archive from the administration panel is done from “Module -> Add module -> Load module”.
Here you must indicate the path to the archive of the module you want to load.
After pressing the “Install now” button, the new module will be available in the “Module” area, where it can be activated.
If you receive the error “Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/. Is its parent directory writable by the server?” you need to modify the rights on the “uploads” directory in wordpress/wp-content/uploads.
After changing the rights on the directory, try again to load the archive of the desired module.
If you encountered problems loading the module archive from the administration panel, you can use the FTP version.
To be able to load the module via FTP, you must initially have the access credentials.
The first step is to unzip the module. For unzipping you can use WinRAR.
Uploading the new module via FTP is done in the “wp-content\plugins” directory, but here we will upload its directories and files, not the archive.
Later, after loading the module, go to “Modules”, from where you can manage its installation.
